beneath the stage lights

serendipity. calm.

i bask in the warm and cool glows,

closing my eyes to take in the peace i feel in the place i call home.

eyes opened, i look into what seems like infinite rows of seats

the crimson velvet welcoming those who dare to venture into the world before them.

those who dare to dream alongside the breathers of illusion. 

i imagine their faces:

those who love, those who ache to be loved.

those who hurt, those who yearn for redemption. 

the silent hearts with untold stories, aching to be seen. 

i see the stories behind their gazes and wonder what i can do to envelope them in a different world- 

to carry them to beauty, to adventure, to bliss. 

i grasp the hands beside me –

my fellow story-weavers and dream-shapers.

for the first time, i feel utterly and completely whole. 

deep in the marrow of my bones, and in the deepest chambers of my soul, 

i know: i am destined to conjure a multitude of worlds for my fellow dreamers and wanders, who find themselves at the threshold.

i live to unveil the endless and immense joys hidden in a world full of possibilities, dreams, and connection.

and most of all,

to kindle a sanctuary for all people, and to help those find the truth and beauty in theatre.
